based Tappan Wire & Cable Inc. (Tappan?). Tappan has headquarters and a
manufacturing facility in Blauvelt, New York.

Tappan supplies the electronics, signal/control and industrial markets.

fire alarm cable, plenum-rated cables, category cables, home
automation/combination cables and commercial sound/intercom cable

UAE to hand out free child car seats in road safety push

ABU DHABI, March 7 (Xinhua) — Hospitals in Abu Dhabi, the largest and wealthiest member of the oil-rich federation United Arab Emirates (UAE), will hand out baby car seats to parents of all newborns to raise awareness about safety of children in vehicles, a leading English daily reported Sunday.

Under a plan by the Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HAAD), some 4, 500 seats will be given out to parents at maternity wards in the UAE capital for a two month trial period later this year, The National said.

The initiative, as part of HAAD’s drive to reduce child deaths in car accidents, will include all Abu Dhabi residents, both UAE nationals and expatriates, according to the newspaper.

“A cultural change has to happen in this region,” Jens Thomsen, the health authority’s head of occupational health department, was quoted as saying.

“From a public perspective point of view, it should not be up to the personal choice of the child if they want to be restrained or not. This is something that the parents have to enforce,” he added

Also there will be Don Bishop, who has been a keen photographer for over 20 years, concentrating for the majority of that time on photographing his other great passion — steam trains. Based in Somerset, he has travelled all over the UK taking pictures of steam, working on UK heritage and main lines and memorable landscape locations.

He went full-time professional in 2006 and his images are regularly published in magazines (in particular Heritage Railway, Steam Railway & Railways Illustrated) along with written articles on railway subjects and photography, books and on calendars, cards and video/DVD covers, especially of the West Somerset Railway with which he is closely involved and has been for 22 years.

Don was a key member of the WSR’s Special Events Planning Team (SEPT) until recently.

Don, who attained an associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in October 2006, has had a number of landscape images published, including on the covers of Somerset Life magazine.
